King Lear's Reflection of
ACT 1 SCENE 1
ACT 1 SCENE 1
King Lear is introduced and divides the kingdom into three parts to hide favoritism. Gloucester talks about his son, Edmund, in not such of a good way, but it was meant to be a joke. Just saying that it was too early for Edmund to come into the world. King Lear wants to know which one of his daughters' love him the most. Goneril goes first and is basically saying anything to get what King Lear is offering. Regan does the same thing. So Cordelia is the last one to speak and nothing. Cordelia feels like she does not have to express her love for her father if it is already shown. Lear disowns her and Kent gets involved. Kent is given 5 days to collect anything he needs to survive and on the sixth day, he should be leaving the kingdom.
