Claims for "I Died for Beauty, but was Scarce" by Emily Dickinson Claim 1: The poem portrays the speaker as someone die for beauty, but did not fully see what it could become. In Line 1, the speaker died for beauty, but was scarce. Meaning a person can absolutely died for what he or she believes in. However, that specific person feels it was not complete.   Claim 2: The moss showed how easily something or somone can be taken away. In Lines 11-12, the moss covered the man and speaker lips and names. Because the speaker had advantages and felt it was lacking, the moss felt it was only right to lack forms of communication.
